Renowned film actor Anupam Kher at a ‘Meet the Press’ programme organised by the Trivandrum Press Club remarked that his recent role in the Malayalam movie ‘Pranayam’ is a landmark in his career. The function saw the inauguration of the official website of the movie, www.pranayamthemovie.com, by Anupam Kher. Director Blessy and producer P K Sanjeev attended the function.
Pranayam happens to be Blessy’s sixth film. Blessy said he was lucky to get the support of three great actors in India for his project. Pranayam has Mohanlal and Jayaprada in the lead with Anupam Kher playing a key role.
Anupam Kher dons the role of Achuta Menon in the movie. Asked about his experience and challenges that he faced while working in an unfamiliar language, he said “Acting in a different language film is like being thrown into a swimming pool without knowing how to swim. Blessy being a good trainer, acting in Pranayam didn’t pose a challenge,” he said. “Pranayam is one of the seven best films of my career. It has been a great learning experience for me,” he added. He was all praise for his co-actor Mohanlal, and said that his performance was phenomenal and effortless.
Asked about his support to Anna Hazare’s movement, he said “Corruption is like a cancer that has gripped the society. When such issues crop up I may do things which may make me unpopular with some people,” he said. “This is the first time that the whole nation has united for a cause,” he added.
Anupam Kher who has also been at the receiving end for being a Kashmiri Pandit said “Central government can solve the Kashmiri issue if they are genuinely interested. Unfortunately the Kashmiri Pandit community is a small minority and our issue doesn’t seem to matter either to the politicians or to the government.”
The movie being produced by Fragrant Nature Film Creations Pvt. Ltd. is slated to release on today
