Mohanlal in Rafi Mecartin new film

   The code to make an exuberant comic entertainer is not easy to crack. But for the duo of Rafi and Mecartin, making a comic drama is not something they sweat over. In fact, it’s a challenge that they are always eager to take up. The writers-turned-directors are coming up with a new movie this year, their third flick with Mohanlal.

“Our next directorial venture will have Mohanlal playing the lead role, the shooting of which will commence this year end. It will be a comic entertainer like our previous ones,” says Mecartin.
Meanwhile, the shooting of ‘Mumbai Dosth’, scripted by Rafi and Mecartin with Prithviraj and Jayasurya playing the protagonists will start by May first week. “‘Mumbai Dosth’ is directed by debutante Fazal. The movie is like a travelogue that will unfold in a funny manner. Hyderabad and Kochi are the main locations where the shooting will take place,” he says adding that both these movies will have quipster numbers to tickle the funny bone of the new gen viewers.

The film carries favorable reports and shall be profitable. Grandmaster is the maiden distribution venture of UTV in Mollywood. It has got a far smaller release when compared to other Mohanlal flicks in recent times. Grandmaster released in 70 screens in Kerala on 3 May 2012. A good first week of about 4 - 4.50 Crores shall be magnificent for such a movie. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwala and Sidharth Roy Kapoor of UTV Motion Pictures, at a budget of 6 Crores.Satellite right is not sold for 3.25 crores its 4crores. Asianet TV was ready to pay 3.50Crores but Surya TV bagged its for 4Crores

It is the season for sequels in the Malayalam film industry, so it seems. After the tremendous success of To Harihar Nagar, sequel to the hit film In Harihar Nagar, Yodha which was made way back in 1992 under the direction os Santhosh Sivan with Mohanlal and Jagathy Sreekumar in pivotal roles and shot in the picturesque locations of Nepal is ready for a second homecoming. Yodha 2 is in the anvil and plans are being made to make a sequel at the earliest.

Santhosh Sivan who has been of late focussing on Bollywood is planning to come back to the Malayalam film industry through this sequel. Yodha was not only a blockbuster success but also a movie which was novel in many ways. Interlacing myth and reality it probed into the life of the Lamas and music maestro A R Rahman has scored the tunes for this Malayalam movie. If sources are to be believed, then Mohanlala has already allocated the dates for this movie.

Road safety pledge cards distributed as part of the State-wide campaign

Actor Mohanlal on Sunday threw his weight behind the road safety awareness campaign launched by the State Police and executed through Student Police Cadets.

On the fifth day of the State-wide campaign ending April 26, the actor arrived at a gathering of the SPCs at the BTH junction to distribute three types of road safety pledge cards — each meant for motor vehicle drivers, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.

Speaking on the occasion, the actor said that during his several journeys, he had the occasion to witness some rash and negligent driving on the roads. “Driving around used to be fun in the olden times. With the volume of vehicles on our roads going up manifold, now there needs to be a change in attitude. Our negligence could endanger someone else's life,” he said, asking the recipients of the card to imbibe the spirit of the pledge.

Mohanlal's Randamoozham Latest report

Kochi: Who would don the role of Bheeman? That was the question on every film enthusiasts’ mind when veteran director Hariharan and legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair set out to recreate on celluloid the emotional angst of the epic character Bheeman in the latter’s novel ‘Randamoozham’.

Ending all speculation, Hariharan has confirmed to Express that the prestigious role will be handled by none other than Mohanlal. "We have decided to cast Mohanlal in the role of Bheeman. We think that his physical appearance and proven performance record will be the major strengths while enacting Bheeman, the central character of the movie," Hariharan said.
The movie, which will be based on the epic novel that won MT the Jananpith Award, is slated to be among the most prestigious projects in Malayalam. What with plans afoot to rope in some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, including AR Rahman, on the production side, MT is expected to complete the script by this month-end.
